Doo-bap, doo-wap ! Voix basse, baryton, velours en pamoise,
Mmmmm ! Mezzo frissonne, frôle, rit, s’emphrase.

L’impro s’hasarde, s’amplifie, foisonne, s’écrase,
Puis renaît, se relance, vacille, déraisonne et s’extase.

Hey ! Harlem ça clame au Cotton Club, une base,
Yala ! St Germain ça tangue au Caveau, ça gaze,
Armstrong, Parker, Ellington, Davis… en jazz band,
soufflent, jouent, pleine nocturne amaze,
Ils déjouent, dansent, conversent dans l’espace,
effleurent, glissent, frappent, ils se dépassent…

Silence des mots. Bulle, chant des sons. Notes en phase.

Ta-da, Tram! The trumpet bursts, snaps, golden, bold,
Doo-bap, doo-wap! Bass voice, baritone, velvety and swooning,

The improvisation ventures forth, amplifies, flourishes, crashes,
Then is reborn, relaunches, wavers, goes wild, and reaches ecstasy.
